Super Bowl Sunday has become an unofficial holiday with millions of fans tuning in to the big game. Many of you get together with friends and family to take part in this great American pastime at festive Super Bowl parties. Even in Israel, dedicated fans sacrifice a night’s sleep to cheer on their favorite team.
This year you have the unique opportunity to add special meaning to your Super Bowl party. We at the Max and Ruth Schwartz Hesder Yeshiva of Sderot are asking you - our friends and supporters worldwide, to host Super Bowl parties while supporting the revitalization of Torah Zionism in a small town that continues to endure years of rocket terror.
Here is how it works:
- Host your Super Bowl party with all the trimmings like any other year.
- Instead of asking your friends to only bring the beer and chips, ask them to bring along their generosity as well.
- We will provide a short but very moving DVD for you to show at halftime or before the game, which illustrates how despite over a decade of Kassam attacks, the Hesder students continue to grow and thrive in Sderot while at the same time, making a huge difference in the lives of the residents of their beleaguered town through various volunteer initiatives. The movie also shows how the Hesder’s young men proudly serve in Israel’s armed forces defending the Jewish State.
- We will also provide our latest newsletter with exciting details on our latest initiatives and projects.
- Hosts will then collect donations to be sent to our office in the US: American Friends of Sderot, 4 Dakota St. Passaic, NJ 07055.
Your donations – small or large – are needed for the continuation of a number of very important projects:
- Construction of armored dormitories
- Outreach programs for IDF soldiers & youth of Sderot
- Support of our religious court & training of dayanim
Over the last 17 years the Sderot Hesder Institutions have become an empire of Torah education, outreach and community service, providing heroic inspiration and leadership for the entire Negev. Please do all you can to be a partner in our holy work.
